FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
"Isn't Sweden a socialist country with high
taxes, extensive wages and
strong labor unions?"
In fact, corporate taxes in Sweden are very low
(second lowest in Europe), and wages for highly skilled labor are
among the lowest in Europe. In terms of industrial workers, Swedish
wages are lower than either the USA or Germany. The degree of unionization
should not cause concern for investors, since we rarely have conflicts.
In time of major changes, the process can go faster and smoother
because of well organized negotiation practices. Unions should not
be regarded as confrontational to management, but rather as a cooperative
and helpful partner.
"Will bureaucracy burden me if I choose to
invest in the region?"
Our One Stop Shop is here to help you. The BASE-team
will guide you through all stages of the establishment process,
and we have all the contacts that
would be of interest to you: office space, partners, government
authorities and financial contacts. We can also be of assistance
in recruiting personnel. You will have only one phone number to
call, regardless of issue.
"Can I easily get access to industrial facilities
in the region?"
We can offer already existing plants. If constructing
a new building is preferable, we can offer you industry sites tailored
to your specific needs. Office space is available or can be arranged,
and prices are often negotiable.
"What about logistics? How easily can I communicate
with (and ship to) the rest of the world?"
The communications network is extensive. Arlanda
International Airport (Stockholm) is only an hour south. Well functioning
highways, high speed trains, and a deep sea port are readily available
for traffic. And one mustn't forget the Information highway: Sweden
leads in IT use and knowledge, and our region in particular can
offer highly skilled technicians at reasonable wages. Fiber optic
cable connects the entire region, so getting connected is as fast
as it is cheap.
